The NHL’s top goalie may be in his prime but there’s no shortage of players that can help the Blue Jackets get through tough seasons.
With the NHL playoffs approaching and the Blue Jays in the playoffs, it’s easy to forget that one of the Blue’s best prospects has already won a championship.
So when the Blue is on the road, the Blue Bombers have to make a decision.
Will the team be able to find the best goalie on their roster?
Or will they go into a season without one?
Here are five players who might be able help the Jackets in their quest to win a division title.1.
Jordan Staal, D, Carolina HurricanesWith his long arm and big glove, Jordan Staala could be the best defenseman on the Blue, especially with the way he plays.
Staal is a great puck-mover, who is strong on the backcheck and plays a gritty style that can win battles in the corners and close out games.
Staala has also shown the ability to be a gritty presence when he’s on the ice.
He has the ability on his side to take the puck to the net and play hard to win puck battles.
If the Blue can keep Staal healthy, they will be in good shape heading into the playoffs.2.
Jhonas Enroth, C, Tampa Bay LightningAfter making the jump to the NHL from the junior ranks in 2012, Jhonis Enroth has shown he can be a top defenseman on any team.
He was selected in the fourth round (178th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and has been playing a key role for Tampa Bay to a Stanley Cup championship.
Enroth is a very solid puck-handler, who uses his size and strength to get into the play, as well as using his skating ability to win battles along the boards and make plays in front of the net.
Envy is also a skilled penalty killer who is dangerous in his own end.
Enzo has a big shot that can go through the legs of the goalie, as his wrist shot is very good and has good release.
The 22-year-old could be a key to the Blue finishing first in the Atlantic Division and making it to the playoffs this season.3.
Tyler Bozak, RW, Detroit Red WingsThe Blue Jackets are loaded with young offensive talent, and they’ve got Bozaks back in the fold.
Bozaker is an offensive threat, who can score on any number of lines.
He also has the size and skill to be an effective penalty killer and has the potential to be the next superstar on the roster.
His skating ability and puck-moving ability are good traits for the Blue and he can do both well.
Bozeaks offensive game is still developing, but he is a quality offensive threat who could play in any NHL lineup.4.
Cody Goloubef, LW, Winnipeg JetsThe Jets could use a scorer on their top line, so they could use Goloubeg.
The 23-year old winger is a big body who has the offensive touch and the vision to be able find open ice.
Goloubew has good vision and can get his shot to the front of goal.
He’s also a solid skater, who gets his shots off quickly and can finish chances.
Golobef is a physical player who is tough to play against and could be one of Columbus’ biggest surprises this season, if not the biggest.5.
Dylan Larkin, RW/C, Nashville PredatorsThe Blue have been linked to a few different free agents in the past, and the biggest name is Dylan Larkins.
The Blue have had some success with Larkinos development, as they have been able to get him on the right side of the puck.
Larks ability to make plays with his hands is second to none, as he can beat defenders off the rush and finish in the offensive zone.
Larkin is a good skater who can get to the dirty areas of the ice and make smart plays.
He can also play the power play and could have a real impact in Nashville this season if the Blue get healthy.
The Blue are also linked to another free agent this season in Ryan Johansen.
The 20-year veteran could be looking for a long-term deal, and Columbus could be willing to give him one to help the team improve on the defense.
